The BodyTalk System is simple and effective whole-healthcare. It is designed to enhance the body’s innate ability to heal itself. It is non-invasive, flexible and safe, and can be used in treating a very wide range of ailments in humans and animals. The goal of BodyTalk is not simply to fix a symptom, but to get to the root of the issue and facilitate healing balance on all levels – physical, mental and spiritual.
The BodyTalk practitioner uses muscle testing and a protocol to determine points in the body-mind-spirit complex that may not be communicating as well as possible, and creates links to restore and enhance communication. When the body is communicating, it can heal itself.
BodyTalk can be used as a stand alone system or as a wonderful compliment to any other type of health care modality. To learn more about this healing system, visit the International BodyTalk Association.

BodyTalk integrates and builds upon our bodies’ innate knowledge of how to heal from illness and pain. BodyTalk realizes that our bodies possess an inherent wisdom – there is no need, for example, to instruct a skinned knee to scab over! Yet the stresses and strains of daily life can obstruct the flows of communication between and among the different parts and aspects of our physical, mental and spiritual selves. BodyTalk works to facilitate the re-aligning of these channels of communication and knowledge, allowing the body to ‘remember’ how to be healthy and in balance.
BodyTalk is a unique approach to health which allows for unlimited potential for healing, understands healing and recovery as a creative process, and acknowledges the mind-body-spirit connection.
Unlimited Potential for Healing
The goal of a BodyTalk session is not simply to identify and treat a particular symptom, but rather to understand the roots of any particular health issue and to facilitate physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. This understanding is achieved by asking the body itself how it wants to heal. BodyTalk does not aim to “diagnose” illnesses; that is, BodyTalk does not artificially impose diagnostic boundaries or limitations on an understanding of particular “causes” of an ailment. By relieving the healing process of the constraints of diagnosis, the potential for healing becomes limitless. Healing can happen exponentially, unconstrained by the dictates of linear, cause-and-effect approaches.
BodyTalk teaches us to regain trust in our bodies, and to have faith in our bodies’ own capacities for renewal.
Healing as a Creative Process
By attending to the body’s own understanding of how to heal, BodyTalk gently reminds the body that healing is a creative and individual process. Each of us is different, and the origins an ailment has will thus differ from person to person. Each body has its own strengths and weaknesses that need to be respected and built upon. BodyTalk allows for awareness of each body’s uniqueness, and facilitates healing to begin in whatever way the body chooses. There are multiple ‘points of entry’ into wellness, since our health is produced by multiple, overlapping, and dynamic layers of well-being. The tools and techniques of BodyTalk allow for wellness to be promoted through a variety of avenues simultaneously, allowing the opening up of new healing possibilities as we allow ourselves to come back into alignment.
Our physical ailments are the manifestation of a complex set of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual inter-relationships. A runny nose can result from a configuration of imbalances in any and all of these realms. While we can just take something from the pharmacy to dry up the sinuses, this would not heal the multiple and layered forces manifesting in a particular symptom. Much of the body’s healing process may occur on a sub-conscious level, in a non-linear fashion – much as the mind produces dreams when we sleep. In our dreams, the sub-conscious mind draws connections between our experiences, understandings, and multiple stimuli, producing a ‘narrative.’ BodyTalk allows for a similar healing ‘narrative’ to emerge, drawing on multiple kinds of experience and knowledge simultaneously, pulling together fragments of injury and misalignment. Healing can thus happen in parallel timings, as systems can be primed to heal in anticipation of future healing of other, related systems. BodyTalk facilitates this 3-dimensional understanding of health; healing can happen ‘backstage’ while a healing momentum can flow throughout the body according to the body’s own communication networks, patterns and processes. These flows produce a creative series of unfoldings and shifts towards realizing the body’s natural and innate healing potential.
Healing as a Holistic Process
BodyTalk treats, not just a particular part of the body but, the whole person. Treating illness also requires understanding that the body is part of a larger system of relationships both within the each person as well as between people and their environments – physical, social and environmental. A part or area of the body experiencing dis-ease is thus understood as part of this ‘family’ of interconnections.
My BodyTalk practice is holistic also insofar as I integrate knowledge from multiple healing modalities. In a BodyTalk session, I may draw on Chinese medicine, the principles of Ayurveda, as well as Western medical theory, integrating and drawing upon this wealth of knowledge traditions without being limited to one set or isolated part of the puzzle. Since BodyTalk allows for different healing trajectories to unfold simultaneously, techniques from these other modalities can be helpful in easing pain and opening up healing possibilities while encouraging the body to recover in its own creative way.
